A channel playing host to ViVio’s online medical encyclopaedia has recently opened on YouTube. This channel brings together all the videos posted on the www.medipedia.be website illustrating the 66 medical conditions on which the site provides information. At present there are here around twenty videos available for viewing.
ViVio launches its Visual Patient’s Guides on iPad
ViVio is launching a new collection of guides. These Visual Patient’s e-Guides are available as apps for tablets and mini websites and include animations, filmed personal accounts and quizzes. AMD now on www.medipedia.be
On 1 March, a 66th medical condition was added to www.medipedia.be, Belgium’s online encyclopaedia of diseases published by ViVio. This minisite devoted to AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) provides clear medical information accessible to the general public on this common cause of blindness. It also includes a quiz and personal accounts, bringing a fresh and lively approach to educating people about the disease.
Grand MediPedia competition
Agrand photo competition is being held on the Dutch-language Facebook page of our website www.medipedia.be. It will run until 1st April. The idea behind this photo competition, called ‘Zzz…Zalig’(Zzz … what bliss!) is simple: just put up a photo of your favourite spot for relaxing! This will make MediPedia a lot more visible on social networks.

ViVio joins forces with Belgium's Cancer Foundation
The result of close collaboration between ViVio and the Belgian Cancer Foundation, “Youth and Cancer” is a new section now available online at www.cancer.be. This guide, a rich resource of around a hundred fact files, is also available in paper format. An added plus is the “Report Book”: a diary/logbook, specially designed for patients, that comes with the guide.

12th Practitioner’s Guide
A 12th title has now been added to the Belgian Practitioner’s Guides: a reference collection designed with health professionals in mind. This new ViVio publication provides a practical and informative response to the key questions regarding viral respiratory tract infections in children.
New tool for specialist doctors
ViVio has been commissioned by the AstraZeneca company to produce six brochures designed for doctors. The latest publication, with illustrations and text by specialists, focuses on a specific case of bronchial cancer, from patient screening to the evolution of treatment.
Record audience for www.medipedia.be
October 2012 was a record month for the health encyclopaedia created and put online by ViVio. With 117,293 unique visitors and 447,293 pages viewed during the month of October alone, www.medipedia.be is increasingly gaining in popularity and credibility. A very encouraging sign for the future of this unique Belgian website.
MediPedia Depression Survey
A major Survey is being run on MediPedia to 14 December 2012. Participants have the opportunity to give their opinion on the encyclopaedia’s online article on depression and to win a day at the Grimbergen Thermal Spa. This initiative is designed to gain a better understanding of web user expectations.

EpiCURA – two new magazines from ViVio
ViVio has been commissioned to design and produce magazines for the hospital group EpiCURA, formed by the merger of the RHMS and CHHF hospitals. The first six-monthly issue, designed for patients, came off the presses in June this year. The quarterly magazine for referring physicians will be available from September.
ViVio publishes three new Doctor's Guides!
The Doctor's Guides are reference works on major chronic health conditions, written by specialists with doctors in mind. Three new guides have now been added to the collection: dealing with Osteoporosis, Refractory Epilepsy and Psoriasis, they join the list of conditions already addressed.

A new magazine for Elixis
g2 (G Square magazine) – that’s the name of the new magazine designed and produced from start to finish by ViVio’s sister company Elixis. This quarterly publication is aimed at renewing the link between Alumni and the various elements of the Ecole Polytechnique de Bruxelles (ULB), with a particular focus on strengthening its influence beyond its doors.

Collaboration with the Fondation contre le Cancer
The Fondation contre le Cancer has commissioned ViVio to produce a “patient logbook” for young cancer sufferers. This project will also extend to the internet as ViVio has been asked to produce the content for the "young people" pages of their website (www.cancer.be). Publication and online launch are planned for 2012.

A few weeks ago, ViVio signed a licence agreement with Springer, the world’s 2nd leading scientific publishing group. The Visual Atlas Collection just got bigger!

ViVio, the leader in health custom publishing, has reworked and taken on production of Inovita magazine for the Revogan laboratories. ViVio takes over at kilowatch.be
ViVio, leader in health custom publishing, is taking over management of kilowatch.be, the Belgian weight-loss promotion website launched in 2003, with the support of Abbott Laboratories. ViVio is tasked with overhauling site content and managing the e-newsletter sent out to members. The new site’s technical platform is being developed by the Globule Bleu agency (Proximedia Group).
New Belgian Practitioner Guide on ADHD
With the support of Novartis, ViVio is publishing a new practitioner guide on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in adults. This condition, which is well documented in children, remains poorly understood in adults. This high quality publication written by two opinion leaders, Dr Pierre Oswald and Dr Steven Stes, fills that gap.
Living life better with illness
Produced in collaboration with the Association Polyarthrite, the first volume in the series is devoted to inflammatory arthritis. Epilepsy affects over 60,000 people in Belgium. ViVio, in collaboration with UCB, has recently published a new visual guide on this topic. An interactive tool for doctor and patient, this lavishly illustrated guide explains this complex condition, its effects and treatment in a simple, structured way.
“Disease” info for Vanbreda
Vanbreda International, an insurance company specialised in international employee benefits, has asked ViVio to provide information to its members on various chronic disease by means of a new “diseases” section on its website. The aim will be to provide the basic essentials, from risk factors to treatment, including screening.
Two New Patient’s Guides
Two new titles have just been added to ViVio’s key collection, the Patient’s Guides: “Understanding and treating prostate disorders” and “Understanding and treating urinary incontinence”. Twenty thousand copies of each guide have been published. Currently consisting of twenty-four titles, the collection proved very popular among medical publishers from five continents at the last Frankfurt Book Fair.

For the first time ViVio presented its key collection, “The Patient’s Guides”, at the biggest book fair in Europe, the Frankfurt Book Fair, from 10 to 14 October. Our collection is already being distributed in several European countries.
